Spider-Man Cover by SnafuDave Spider-Man Cover by SnafuDave
This is the prototype of the cover page to a Spider-Man fan comic I'm considering making.

I'm not sure if I'll actually go through with it. If I do, this cover will get a major overhaul.

its pretty cool stuff, when did u start coloring on the computer? and do u draw it in pencil first?

Ummm everything but this cover I drew first with pencil. This cover looks so sloppy cuz it was my first attempt at just digitally mouse painting with no guides. I started playing with photoshop almost three years ago now.

Dave...Spiderman is the only one that tops you on my all-time hero's list. Definitely do it. I will SO read/buy/worship whatever you produce, because I know it'll be awesome. ^^;

Nah comics from me have a general "suck" to them that's undeniable. But they seem to suck less every time I try. And it's understandable that you didn't like the first Spider-Man movie all that much. I adored it, but I'm a bit of a fanatic. But I'm really glad to hear you liked the 2nd one.

Hahaha, love the comment by the real winner up there about your fanart.

Anyway, I think this is positively adorable and still cool. The style is really round and cute, yet has these neat sharp edges, and that background is fun to look at also.

Pomander thanks a ton. By the way I was looking at your gallery and you've got a RAD style. I like how realistic you drew Creme and Amy. And my favorite one is actually the one that just says "no." on it. It's just neat to me for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on.

It mostly needs a better background. And to be sharper. I dont' think I'm going to go with the no lines paint-ish look for the final version. And the clouds are just the suck. And yeah I dunno it needs work but I want to move on for now.

Oh thanks. It looks fine to me as well if it were just my "normal" stuff. Like if it were just a quick picture or wallpaper for me I'd be A-OK with it. But since I want something that continues for a bit like a comic I think I need to figure out a better approach to it. Who knows though I could always botch it up and or get lazy and just go with this as is.

I love your style for Spider-Man! *_*

I'm just getting into the series now, actually. Saw the first movie and some other stuff behind the creation (im a freak of those things!)

whether you make the comic or not (i kina hope you will and stuff? XD), i say this would make an awesome poster!

Yeah I hope I make the comic as well. But I haver serious doubts since it takes so so so so much work to start and finish a comic. I guess it depends on how smooth the character design goes... Well if it counts as character design since the chracters have been around for 50 years I'm just trying to tweak them into a different style. But yeah. And I also need a subtitle of some sort. I mean it's never JUST called Spider-Man it's either Amazing Spider-Man, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Clan etc. But I'm not creative enough to figure out a cool sounding name to distinguish mine from the rest. But yeah I'm thinking about it fairly hard. I hope I go through with it to. But we'll see.

And how on earth do you make things into posters? That sounds fun.

I worked on a couple of comics before. they;re hard because you have to remain consistant in your style for the characters and it's really story gapholes and authors' block that leaves a comic unfinished, so it should help to have the whole storyline planned as much as possible, though new and cool ideas always come along as you're working as well. ^^

and naming's also a drag. XD

poster. Take it to your local Kinkos and print it large, babeh!

hmmm Kinkos is a good idea.

Yeah I've never had much desire/luck at having ANYTHING consistent in my drawings. But your so right about new ideas poping in as you go along. It's sick how much so.

Hey maybe you'll know. What does Doujin mean? I've seen it as the name to a couple fan comics lately and I don't know what it means.

Doujinshi are generally fancomics that get published and sold throughout Japan ranging from Super Mario to Final Fantasy to South Park O_o. America has copyright laws too strict to let us do it here... from what i know. But in Japan, they're everywhere!

And while it isn't necessary to be this way, many doijinshi are subject to pairings, groping, raping, and other means of porn.... (and south park is just south park manga-styled!) XD

So be careful if you find any doujinshi on Ebay or the sort.... lmao!

I knew you'd know. Well that clears it up quite a bit. And Man Japan sounds awesome if fan made stuff can be published and sold like that. I'd have a hay day with such laws.

And thanks for the added warning. Much appreciated.

I SHALL TRANSLATE FROM IDIOT!
"The big-headed spiderman rules, but sadly, fan art is just sad. I mean, you haave a brain, so use it. I bet you could do alot better than some guy in tights with really lame powers. Anyway..."

I'm so helpful. Anyways, this is pretty cool, I like the pose, and the shading's great. Keep up the good work.
